The Caves name has been associated with the painting industry since 1950, when Earnest Cave founded the company E.H Cave Ltd.
The company became one of the larger contractors in Auckland and gained a reputation with Ministry of Works, Housing New Zealand and various construction companies. In more recent times Caves have been on major refurbishments such as the refurbishments of the Civic Theatre, the Auckland Town Hall, the Auckland Domain Buildings and Ports of Auckland Buildings and various multi-storey complexes at Viaduct Point.
